Epiphany
Alternate Name:
The Manifestation of Christ to the Gentiles
Subject:
Faith and Fulness
Design for Worship:
The Design for Worship for this day is that God has thrown open the Gates of Heaven to all mankind. No longer would redemption be of one kindred, but rather Jew and Gentile alike would be partakers of God's promise in Christ. Praise the Lord!
Epistle Lesson:
Ephesians 3: 1-12
Gospel Lesson:
Matthew 2: 1-12
Note on Collect Usage:
This Collect may be used before the Collect on the First Sunday after the Epiphany.
Revised Collect:
Gracious God, You revealed Your only-begotten Son to the Gentiles by the leading of a star. Mercifully give us, who know You now by faith, the completion of Your promise after this life so we may enjoy the fulness of the glories of Your Godhead; through Jesus Christ our Lord.
Original Collect:
O God, who by the leading of a star didst manifest thy only- begotten Son to the Gentiles; Mercifully grant that we, who know thee now by faith, may after this life have the fruition of thy glorious Godhead; through Jesus Christ our Lord.
